Performance
High fertility (110 to 150 percent) is combined with rapid lamb growth rate
(350 gms per day) up to weaning, making the Dohne a highly efficient
meat producer.
Slaughter lambs achieve a marketing
weight of at least 50kg at 4 to 6 months of
age.
Mature body weight of ewes
varies from 55 to 65 kg, depending on environment.
After receiving prime lamb
rates over the hook in recent years, the Dohne
is now recognized by meat buyers and agents alike
as a leading prime lamb breed and is commanding
premium prices in the saleyard throughout NSW.
